CAUSES TV: DC Recycling Program

This spring, the D.C. Department of Public Works (DPW) Director William Howland stopped by to chat with Dean O'Hara about the District's recycling program and to discuss the role recycling plays in keeping our city clean and the people who live here healthy. Director Howland and Dr. O'Hara are joined by CAUSES Urban Agriculture Director Che' Axum.

Earlier this year, D.C transitioned to larger recyclying cans and trash cans (Supercans). The larger receptacles were implemented due to the Sustainable DC plan's target of diverting 80 percent of waste via recycling, composting and waste conversion.

DPW provides municipal services in two distinct program areas: environmental services/solid waste management and parking enforcement. Both contribute to making District streets and public spaces clean, safe, attractive and accessible. Visit them online at http://dpw.dc.gov/
